Happy Days and Forward Pays

You always have just the right story...you brought a tear to my eye. My boss has had ppl pay it forward while in the drivethru...maybe it's taking hold everywhere!

Notsonice: wow what a lovely compliment..thanks.

I think pay it forward is a wonderful concept. It would be great if more people did it for each other. It does not have to be money related either. Help a senior to the car with their groceries, or across a busy street. Donate used clothing to charity or a safe shelter. Anything another human being can do for another without expecting something back in return. Wouldn't the world be a much better place if each of us made someone else's day a little brighter through some simple gesture.

Thanks for your lovely comment Notsonice..xx

awe! That is such a nice sweet story. You made an old man happy, taught your daughter a lesson, and made a new friend in the process. It doesn't get any better than that.

~contented sigh~

I-Luv-Eeyore: Thanks....

You are right, it sure doesn't get much better than that. Jake has taught me many amazing lessons on life. He is a wise and wonderful man. Getting to know him has been a blessing!!!

That's an amazing story Marie. So glad you shared it with us. I've seen & heard the expression 'pay it forward' a lot lately- but never really knew what it meant, but you clearly explained it for me. Thank You. :)

This just made me cry, you wotsit! Lovely story! :)

That is so neat to hear about Jake!

Have you heard about the film "Pay it Forward"? It's about a kid helping 3 people, then those three people help 9 people and so forth. Great film :)

This made me cry too. You and your daughter and Jake are wonderful people :) I really needed to see this and can't thank you enough for it {Hug}
If this doesn't make TIG I will eat my hat!!

Wonderful story, and I love the coincidence of it, timing of things is so fascinating....And I love that you chose to actually make a friend of this man, who obviously has a very kind heart, and was also probably quite lonely before you and your daughter...

:)

WOOOOW! I think, no, I have had a similar experience. You paid your way forward when you took the time and effort to communicate with me. To all other Voxers, I think you all pay your way forward when you care for each other. Luv you all.
On reading Katiebell's comment it struck me, it does not appear as if you have to stand in line every Wednesday morning as Jake must have paid a lot of breakfasts over time. The only ppl in line are you and your girl. That says something to me. You're paving your way with gold my Dear.

wow. what a wonderful story. it brings out the beauty and goodness in humanity. thanks for sharing.

What a note to start my day off on. Beautiful people x 3!! If only everyone would take the time to show and receive such kindness, this ol' world would be a much better place.

Thanks for sharing.

Awww, he sounds just like my grandfather! Something about men of that generation....thanks for sharing this, beautiful!

I'm so glad that you and your daughter are experiencing this wonderful concept together. :)

TIG'g this and favoriting it as well. You've made my morning! XOXO

SweetMisery: you are right tehre are alot of lonely people out there and age does not matter.

Blissful Ignorants: oh wow ..thanks.

Michelley-Shell: Thank-you so much!! And thanks for the pay it forward link. that was an awesome movie!!!

Pollyorange: Awww...*passes tissue* you're adorable, but what the heck is a wotsit? hahaha

Ron: Thanks...yes I have seen that movie..totally awesome!!!

Carrie: *passes tissue too* Thanks soooooooo much carrie what a sweet thing to say.

katiebell: you're right!! If we never missed a Tuesday morning breakfast we probably never would have met him. And yes he was very lonely. Believe it or not, as many people as he bought breakfast for, nobody has ever be-friended him. He has gotten thank you's and once someone bought him flowers...but nobody ever took the time to get to know him. That always amazes me because they have no idea what they are missing.

Lauren: thanks for commenting. I dunno if I am paving with gold but I do know Jake is definitely a gem...lol. Thanks for commenting Lauren, always nice to see you here.

secretheart: thank-you very much!!

dang, now I'm about to cry in my Lucky Charms!

berk: Awwww what a nice thing to say. That deserves a huge (((((hug)))))

Thank-you!!!

And you are right about people taking the time to show and receive kindness. As I commented to Notsonice at the beginning here.

pay it forward is a wonderful concept. It would be great if more people did it for each other. It does not have to be money related either. Help a senior to the car with their groceries, or across a busy street. Donate used clothing to charity or a safe shelter. Smiling at a stranger, moving your cart of groceries and allowing the person behind you (holding one item) to go ahead. Or something as simple as a sweet comment on someone's blog. Little things like this can totally make a person's day. And in return they feel the need to be nice to someone else.

berk you are a total "day maker" ;-)

Kelli: Both my grandfathers are gone. But, one of them in particular was very kind-hearted like Jake.

Arly and I feel so blessed to have Jake in our lives. We look so forward to Wednesday mornings and we spend every moment with him talking and laughing and sharing and learning. His wisdom and the stories he tells are something that my daughter and I will not easily forget. thank-you so much for your comment.

crankypants: covers your bowl..:P

thanks for the comment!!

Sure marie, go make a hormonal woman cry. That was just TOO easy. LOL

What an uplifting and inspiration story! Thank you for sharing it.
wow - i loved this story.
i too go to the same coffee shop every morning, and i see the same "older" man. regardless of the time of morning (sometimes I'm later than usual) I see him there. i haven't gotten the courage to actually talk to him, but i did ask the guy behind the counter if he truly goes in every morning. he said yeah, he's just a nice older man without family and friends. he comes in for a coffee and cookie every morning.
i think i'll say hi to him tomorrow morning.

beba: awww I sowwy!!!! lol

Megan: thanks for reading

rachel: I hope you do say hi to that man tomorrow morning. You will make his day. Let me know how it goes!!!

Hey Mom, that was great. Brought a tear to my eye, actually... Really nice story. :)
[this is good]
Happy tears. What a nice man! And such a good concept. I think I need to do some paying it forward.
Just don't try it in traffic by letting someone in front of you. If you do then the person you let in thinks they have to pay it forward by letting someone else in. Before you know it you have 10 damn cars in front of you because you decided to be nice that one day to pay it forward and let someone in. An annoying domino effect haha

JustAmanda: I miss you kid!!! Love you oodles!!!

krogebot3000: Aww thanks. Paying it forward is always a nice thing to do. The rewards are unbelieveable.

Blissful Ignorant: hahaha..I hear ya!! There are always the "take advantage people" in the crowd.

[this is good]
nice story.

Rob: thanks!! glad you liked it!!

It reakky is funny how such a little thing can mean so much to someone. Like how much posts on Vox have started to mean to me. I am not nearly as isolated as I used to be. Thanks for bringing a tear to my eye!
What did I tell you?! TIG baby!!! The power of words...
[this is good]
What a beautiful story! And you made the explore page again! *applause!* Woohoo!

Mikki: wow what a beautiful thing to say. Thanks so much!!

Jodipodi and clippedwings: *Does the dance of joy* thanks thanks thanks...and thanks VOX!!!!!!!

That is a great story and a wonderful experience. I am sure you made as big as of an impact in your life as he did yours.
empresscksays: he was very lonely, there is no doubt. He thanks us over and over for spending time with him. (As if we are doing him some favor.) But the reality is we look just as forward to his company as he does to ours.
