Just do it....yourself!

[this is good]
Yikes. The amount of things they do now called day surgery flips me out. I would be a little concern about your daughter catching this. ((((Hugs))))
That's really scary! What is the world coming to?
That is twisted. Can we all stop blaming lawyers for the f'd up healthcare system now? Seriously, HMO's and socialized medicine - politicians and the insurance industry - that's where the anger needs to be directed.
Whoa. That is insane.
The term health "care" is a joke. The only way to get good care today is to have a tough doctor who is willing to fight for you and keep you in the hospital if necessary. I am fortunate to have one.

I have been saying for years that the insurance lobby in this country is out of control. Not only health insurance, any type of insurance. We all pay high premiums but just try to get help when you need it.

I hope your friend's daughter does well.
They try to keep as many floks out of the hospital as possible doe to Staph, TB(yes it is making a comeback) and other infectious bacteria that are lurking around every corner in the hospital. They have to weigh the risks of infection vs. the risk of home care.
H M O stands for hand the money over!!
That is beyong insane!!!
This happened to me before. I had blood poisoning- spent 3 days in the hospital and then had an IV in my hand for 2 weeks- going twice daily to the hospital to have heavy duty anti-biotics administered. They didnt have mean clean anything out... There was a cap on the opening... I just had it taped up so that it could not be bumped.... It's better than paying thousands of dollars to be kept in the hospital....
That's crazy. I can't imagine going through that.
they just don't take tonsils out anymore. When I was at school every second kid seemed to have theirs out but now they just treat it with antibiotics. I had constant tonsilitis for 18 months and there was no talk of removing them. One of them just shrivelled up and died on it's own in the end.

We did the home IV return to the ER for a variety of staph infections at one hospital I worked at. i didn't really feel comfortable with that because there is a certain population of people who will use that IV for a variety of other things.

My "home hospital" would not do that, we have a short stay unit where people come in for 24 hours and are transitioned to oral before they leave.

I will say the way infections can be spread in the hospital, home care is usually the better bet. It's hard to know whats right.

Wow. That is nuts. I can see the anti-infection argument, but does your average person even know what to do with an IV? I wouldn't. I mean, I know they give you instructions before you go home, but still. Anyway, there's plenty of infection out in the world waiting to enter the bloodstream through that open hole in the skin!

Canadian health care system versus no health care in the US.

I still like yours better, though the IV in the hand thing on a kid worries me a bit.

Hospitals there and here both are having serious difficulties with staph and other infections.

Hard to know what's the best choice.

Hey, they might even throw in a mirror for her too.
On a good day.
Jeeze.
When my husband had an attack of tintinitus, the doctor at Kaiser told him to go look it up on Google.
Like we needed to drive in and wait an hour for that.
Wow, that's just insane! What the heck has happened to your country's health care system? :S
whoa. that's crazy.
On some of the Caribbean islands the health care sucks. However,I never expected to hear this! The doctor~patient relationship is just a statistic in some doctors' minds.A patient is just a number!
Yikes! And all the comments make me say it again, too.

Oh sweet lord.

"yah! We put the iv in for you (special price, just for you), here's your heparine. Just shove it in every now and then and you'll be just fine. Have a good one, sweetie!"
